Gatlinburg SkyPark

The Gatlinburg SkyPark has really evolved over time and continues to add new activities/attractions!

The Gatlinburg SkyPark is another main attraction in downtown Gatlinburg that can be accessed directly from the main strip / Parkway.

The SkyPark offers these activities:

  • Great views of the Great Smoky Mountains
  • SkyDeck
  • SkyBridge
  • SkyLift
  • Clayton’s Landing
  • SkyTrail (hiking trails)
  • Tulip Tower
  • Two shops
  • Smoky Mountain Smash (smash burgers)
  • Smoky Mountain SIPS (refreshing drinks)

The main attraction is the SkyBridge, which is the longest suspension bridge in the United States that spans between two mountain tops. The SkyBridge has a section in the middle that is a glass bottom.

Anakeesta

Anakeesta is a “theme park” that is on the main strip in downtown Gatlinburg.

To get to Anakeesta, you will take the chair lift (the “Crystal Express”) or the “Ridge Rambler” which is a heavy-weight truck that will drive you up to the theme park.

Anakeesta offers a great number of attractions, activities, shops, and restaurants when you arrive.

  • Anavista Tower (picture on this page)
  • Bird-Venture
  • Treehouse Adventure Play Area
  • Treeventure Challenge Course
  • Treetop Skywalk
  • Hellbender Mountain Coaster (additional cost applies)
  • Rail Runner Mountain Coaster (additional cost applies)
  • Dueling Zipline Adventure (additional cost applies)
  • Astra Lumina (additional cost applies)
  • Anakeesta Gem Mining (additional cost applies)

There is a paid parking lot by the entrance to Anakeesta, but it gets full very quickly in the mornings. If coming from Gatlinburg Landing, we would recommend parking at the community center or city hall and riding the trolley. Parking is free at those two locations.

Gatlinburg Community Center

A great option for families visiting the area that is often overlooked is the Gatlinburg Community Center.

The Gatlinburg Community Center is east of downtown. It is approximately eight miles from Gatlinburg Landing, or about a 15 minute drive.

The center has plentiful parking and also operates as a “Park and Go” location where you can park and catch the free trolley to save on parking costs downtown.

What does the Gatlinburg Community Center offer? Well.. here is a list!

  • Indoor Pool
  • Bowling lanes
  • ToneZone fitness area
  • Gymnasium
  • Racquetball courts
  • Climbing wall

As of the time of this post, a daily “membership” is $10 for adults and $8 for children/seniors. This would give you access to the indoor pool, fitness area, playing courts, and the climbing wall.

The bowling lanes are a separate cost. Cost is $4 per person for each game – plus $2 a person for shoe rental.

If you just want to come and enjoy the indoor pool during the cold seasons when outdoor pools are closed, there is a cost of $5 per person.
